If you've accidentally discolored your clothes, there are two simple home remedies you can use to discolor them—especially cotton clothes.
With baking soda
- Heat water in a large enough vessel.
- Dissolve about 5 tablespoons of baking soda in water (applies to about 5 liters of water).
- Place the stained garment inside and leave it on overnight.
- Wash it normally in the washing machine. If it is very discolored, you can also put baking soda in the washing machine.
With citric acid or vinegar
Alternatively, you can use lemon juice or vinegar.
The process is the same: for five liters of water you can use 75 grams of lemon zest, two whole lemons or a tablespoon of vinegar. Wash it with cold water before putting the clothes in the washing machine.
With fabrics made of synthetic material, such as polyester, home remedies tend not to help. You can use commercially available decolorizers, but they naturally have chemical ingredients.
