The world of socks: tips for washing and finding them again

You will soon find out why colorful (and sustainable) socks are more fun, what you need to pay attention to when caring for socks and practical tips on how to stop losing socks.

Colorful, more colorful, DillySocks

Do you already know DillySocks? The Swiss company was founded in 2013 by three friends with the aim of banishing boring, monotonous socks and replacing them with colourful, cheerful and sustainable socks. The result is a colorful world of socks full of cheerful designs that are guaranteed to put you in a great mood as soon as you put them on in the morning.

Why we think DillySocks are really cool

1. Made from organic cotton

The socks are made of 80% combed organic cotton, 18% polyamide and 2% elastane. However, the exact composition of the socks varies by design.

2. Ecological and skin-friendly materials

The DillySocks have been awarded the «Oeko-Tex® 100 Standard» label. This means that the material and/or the end product have been manufactured without dangerous and toxic substances. 100% skin compatibility guaranteed.

In addition, some of the socks (depending on their composition) are GOTS-certified, globally recognized requirements for ecological textiles.

3. Sustainable production

The hooks that the DillySocks are attached to are made of a wood-based biocomposite and are biodegradable. The labels and paper tags are recyclable, the carrier bags are compostable.

4. Partner look

The socks are not only for adults, but also for children. Every kids design is also available in an adult version.

5. Upcycling

Remnants of sock fabric are not thrown away, but processed further. This results in sock monkeys, which can also be bought in the online shop for young and old.

6. Subscription socks

Like bluu, DillySocks also has a subscription. With a subscription you can not only give presents to yourself, but also to your loved ones. You can choose the socks yourself in advance and have them automatically delivered to your home at a reduced price. Never again too few socks.

Washing socks: you have to pay attention to this

  • Washing at 40 degrees : If the heat is too high, your socks will shrink. 40 degrees is enough. If they are very dirty, you can use one of our stain tips To fall back on.
  • Gentle cycle for particularly fine stockings : You can wash on a gentle cycle, especially if there is a high proportion of elastane or functional socks.
  • Avoid bleach : the bluu washing strips are bleach-free and perfect for your socks.
  • No fabric softener : Socks don't like fabric softener either.
  • No Dryer : In fact, socks live longer if you don't put them in the dryer. Hanging them all is a bit more involved, but they will thank you with longevity.
  • By the way, ourbluu washing strips are very suitable for washing socks.

That way you won't lose any more socks

Do you keep losing your socks too? Surely there is a parallel universe somewhere with lost, single socks...

Here are a few tips on how to stay on top of things in the future.

sock clips

There are special clips that you can use to clip the socks together. You can pin them on immediately after wearing and wash them right away.

Laundry bag / cloth bag

A slightly more ecological variant is a wash bag, in which you consistently put ALL your socks. Then you don't have to look for them in the shallows of your washing machine, just in the bag. Extra tip: Use a separate bag for each person (in the household) for an even better overview.

hair ties

A cheaper option, if you have some at home, are hair ties: bundle a pair of socks, put them in the laundry and not a single sock gets lost.

However, if you only have colorful socks like those from DillySocks, sorting by wash is super easy. You really don't need clothespins, etc., because the pile is then easily sorted. And much more fun than with 50 black, slightly different socks.
